On Friday, March 14, 2014, DeKalb High School Student Council participated in their fifth annual CANstruction® transformation that directly benefits the DeKalb County community.  Every year, Community Harvest Food Bank sponsors the annual CANstruction®  competition at Glenbrook Mall in Fort Wayne. This year there were 16 area schools that participated in an effort to fill the shelves of Community Harvest Food Bank to help area counties by providing food to families in need. This means all the food used in our structure will come back to DeKalb county food banks. CANstruction®  is the largest fundraising effort locally each year, and in 2013, Fort Wayne was ranked 4th nationally based on food items collected.

The 16 structures will remain on display until Sunday, March 23 for the public to enjoy. Patrons may vote for their favorite structure with non-perishable food items for the People’s Choice Award (1 food item = 1 vote).

So grab some food items and head to the mall to vote for DeKalb’s Disney Castle, which will further help DeKalb County families!
