DeKalb Central Appoints Director of Human Resources

DeKalb Central appoints director of human resources   Wendy Pettis has joined the DeKalb Central school district as director of human resources. Previously, she served as human resources director at Peoples Federal Savings Bank.

“I am excited to join the district to serve as director of human resources,” Pettis said in a news release. “I have a service-oriented outlook, and I look at this position as a way to give back to the community.”

Pettis and her husband, Scott, are graduates of DeKalb Central schools, and their children currently attend schools in the district.

“My entire career has been in the human resources field,” said Pettis. “Having worked in the banking and mortgage lending sector, I look forward to bringing my experience and skills to DeKalb Central schools.”

Among Pettis’ top priorities are streamlining the performance review process, establishing an orientation process called “onboarding,” which establishes what new hires can expect when they join DeKalb Central schools, and being a resource to the district’s administrators, as well as the entire district’s staff,

“I have a great opportunity to tailor this new position with the support of Dr. Sherry Grate, superintendent of DeKalb Central schools,” said Pettis. “I look forward to being a part of the team at all levels.

“Our Vision for DeKalb County Central United Schools is: ‘We will be Indiana’s Highest Performing School District.’ Part of my personal commitment will be to support this vision, as well as the district’s mission, core values, and strategic direction.”

“Wendy will be an instrumental member of the team focused on inspiring the district to perform at the highest level possible,” Grate said in the release. “This includes being a key person involved in supporting the district’s motto: ‘Excellence … Everyone … Everyday.’”
