DHS Classic Connection Wins at Dwenger

FORT WAYNE — DeKalb High School’s Classic Connection mixed choir won the grand championship of a competition Saturday night at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne. Classic Connection also won the category awards for best vocals and best band.

DeKalb’s Brittany Pogue won the award for best female soloist in all shows. Bruce Bell was named best performer in DeKalb’s show.

DeKalb’s Sound Sensation girls choir was crowned grand champion of the unisex division with awards for best choreography and best crew. Liz Bolinger was named best performer in DeKalb’s show.

Sound Sensation placed fifth in the overall finals. Other choirs placing were Churubusco, second place with the award for best choreography; Bishop Luers mixed choir, third; Grove City, fourth; and Bishop Luers boys choir, sixth.

In a separate competition for soloists, DeKalb’s Vince Rainelli placed second.
