WATERLOO — Sherry Grate, superintendent of DeKalb Central Schools, has issued a statement explaining the school district’s progress in developing a calendar for the 2014-15 school year.

Wednesday’s edition of The Star carried a report on this week’s DeKalb Eastern school board meeting in Butler. It said DeKalb Eastern is working with DeKalb Central and Garrett-Keyser-Butler schools to develop a countywide calendar for all three districts that would be similar to DeKalb Eastern’s new balanced calendar.

Grate clarified DeKalb Central’s position: “We are in the process of gathering information through a survey and will continue to do so through the 29th. The calendar committee will analyze that information on Dec. 2. A recommendation from the committee will be brought to the school board in either December or January. No decisions have been made about the future of our calendar and will not be made until our feedback has been gathered and reviewed thoroughly.”
