Veterans Day Program

Due to lunch times, doors will not open until 1:00. Please do not arrive until then, as we do not have enough seating in the office area for early arrivals and the office is a very busy place during lunch time. 

If your child will be leaving school with a Veteran, please contact the main office NO LATER than the end of the day on Tuesday, November 10 so that we can compile that list for teachers. ​You will need to tell the secretaries your child's name, teacher, and the name of the Veteran allowed to take your child home. Ensuring the safety of our students is our top priority. ​In order to do that, we must have this list compiled and to staff ​in advance so that students can bring their items with them and leave directly after the program. The office is much too chaotic at ​lunch and dismissal time to ​add students to this list in the moment. We appreciate your understanding on this. 

We have compiled quite a list of Veterans to honor. ​This list remains in tact from ​previous years. However, if you have a new Veteran to add, please email ​Mrs. Rice at arice@dekalbcentral.net with:
1. Name of the Veteran
​2. Branch of service, ​years/ dates of service
3. ​Name of student connection
​4. If there ​is additional information you, feel free to send it and we can add it if we have space on the slide. 
5. A picture of the Veteran (usually in uniform) is appreciated. 

As you can imagine, with all of our ​Veterans ​Day guests at our program in the afternoon, dismissal will be ​busier than normal. We ask for your patience as we have our guests exiting the building and parking lot. This would be a good day to NOT line up early. ​:) In fact, not arriving for car rider pick up until ​2:30 ​might work in your favor! We ​thank you ahead of time for your patience and understanding as we honor our Veterans and ​lead our students on recognizing and honoring them as well.
